Nearly 10,000 Km Of Highways And Counting: India's Massive Push To Transform North East Connectivity This Past Decade

The focus on developing road infrastructure in the north east is set to boost socio-economic development, enhancing connectivity and trade.

Over the past decade, the Indian government has significantly advanced road infrastructure in the North Eastern Region (NER), constructing 9,984 kilometres of National Highways (NHs) with an investment of Rs 1,07,504 crore.

In a recent statement, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) highlighted the progress and ongoing efforts to enhance road connectivity in the NER. The ministry has emphasised its dedication to the NER by earmarking 10 per cent of the national budget specifically for road development in the region.
